Vinod Miriyala, BDS, MPH, CAGS, DDS
Dr. Miriyala is director, community outreach programs for the Ironton Lawrence County Area Community Action Organization Ironton, Ohio. He is responsible for designing and implementing a comprehensive outreach strategy to increase the number of insured, Medicaid enrolled and low income Medicare beneficiary residents who receive primary medical, behavioral and oral health care services. He also maintains a private dental practice limited to treating children in Huntington, WV. Dr. Miriyala previously served as clinical adjunct assistant professor of pediatric dentistry at the University of Detroit Mercy, School of Dentistry in Detroit, Mich. He has also held teaching positions at the Children's Hospital of Michigan, Detroit, and College of Dentistry, Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. Following his training in general dentistry in India, Dr. Miriyala earned a master's degree in public health at Ohio State University, a certificate in dental public health at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pa., a certificate of advanced graduate study in pediatric dentistry at Boston University, Boston, Mass., and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Detroit Mercy. Among Dr. Miriyala's numerous contributions to public health, he has served as project leader for Give Kids a Smile at University of Detroit mercy, project coordinator for the UDM-Henry Ford School-Based Clinics Dental Home Partnership project, and co-director for the State of Michigan, American Association of Pediatric Dentistry-Head Start Dental Home Initiative. He is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Society of Dentistry for Children, American Association of Public Health Dentistry and ACU.
