Social Workers

The expertise of social workers ranges from Mental Health to welfare to substance abuse to health insurance.Social workers are an integral part of the health care team.While many physical and mental ailments are generally the same regardless of community setting, urban, rural, and underserved environments must be accounted for when issues on social well-being are being examined.Arguably one of the most versatile health worker, one of them many strengths of social workers is their knowledge of cultural sensitivity.Diversity is an important issue especially in underserved and minority communities.Alongside public health officials, social workers must educate other clinicians to be culturally competent.

National Association of Social Workers The National Association of Social Workers (NASW) is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with nearly 150,000 members. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound social policies.

Association of Social Work Boards - The Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) is the association of boards that regulate social work. ASWB develops and maintains the social work licensing examination used across the country, and is a central resource for information on the legal regulation of social work.
